Hi all,
I got this kudi. The seller told :" the blade is not one of these lots of fakes..... it is antique". I like to have Your comments about the "antiquity" of the blade and on the whole item (I never saw a similar one), whose origin should be West Java (Java Barat). Regards Paolo |

Surely my kudi looks similar to the Valiant Co, but IMO is of an higher quality. I know that with arsenic bathes is possible to have an older blade, but the pamor has a good patina, that doesn't seems dued to repeated washes. Also the wood looks old, but I guess newer than the blade.

someone once told me that the ones with 5 holes along the spine were islamic, and represented the 5 pillars of the faith. the older ones had 3 holes, like this one of mine:

Hi all,
Sorry but this seems to be a nice reproduction. The blade texture Or patine looks be etched into the blade. The dapur is not like the old ones. (to perfect holes and outlinings) Nice but Modern sarong. Gert-Jan |

Dear All,
I've posted before, these pictures of kudi and kudi-daun (leaf-kudi) in another thread. I hope it is still useful for comparison. The kudi's sheath, is 20th century Surakarta's style with "sunggingan" (wayang ornamenting). Ganjawulung |

My broken Kujang Badak mata 3. Nothing spectacular... just for comparison.

This is more comparison on kudi, or West Javanese people say as Kujang... Sorry for not cleaning it yet. I hope it is not wasting your time..
