Side arm ID please

Hello,

These sidearms, I've never seen others like them... can anyone ID them? I've simply no idea where exotic regulation pattern arms are concerned.

Without hittin the books, I would say these are pretty much munitions French arms that fall into the 'galle' (rooster or chicken pommel but stylized) and early to mid 19th c. They recall some of the military cadet swords of late 18th early 19th. These seem to be of the kind for auxiliary unit sidearms often more utilitarian.

OK, so these are surely not 'butterfly knives' !!

and after pretty much pondering these half the night......I realize these are EAGLE heads!!
Use of the eagle head on military hilts pretty much goes to many nations but primarily US, and Holland with other exceptions.

These seem like other ranks type swords for sappers etc. but these typically had saw backs. The raised ridge bevel type blades look like a 19th c. type Ive seen on Civil War period 'bowie' cutlass type weapons but that is not of course a determining factor.

Still lookin'. !

The blades look to functional to be theater props. The photos posted below is the same as the auction house has posted on their website. I guess Gavin wants to find out if they are worth making a bid on:

I've NIL interest in them, I've seen them passed in twice elsewhere in recent month... I'm just super curious about the type I have never seen before.
I agree, the blades look very functional... would leave a nice bump on the head... I figured it strange a pair should turn up too... but we collectors do have the strangest things some days...
Happy to put this on ice til it passed but I suspect they'll pop up again given the lack of interest elsewhere.

Interesting, have never met anything like them before but that they do appear to have once had locking scabbards going by the first pic, the pommels look very Germanic to me, interesting things indeed, jolly good. Snoddy
