The Dagger has been ID'd by Lew (thanks!) - I am still looking for help on the text in the blade. Regards, Erik

This dagger arrived in the mail today. It came with some other items from an old Dutch collection of blades. Mainly Indonesian but also some others (African and others) - collected before 1940. So far I have been able to buy 9 items. This one is a riddle to me. I have no idea what it is - so please help me here! There seem to be markings on the blade and also an inscription (maybe upside down?) All info welcome! Regards, Erik Last edited by erikscollectables; 3rd November 2010 at 10:08 AM. |

Yours is a Sudanese arm dagger circa 1898 probably from Omdurman. Here is it's close cousin. Lew Last edited by Lew; 2nd November 2010 at 10:09 PM. |

Is this the type of weapon that was common in that period? Regards, Erik |

Usually I am not into African, but both of your pieces are great examples!
