After a google search I presume it is a shamshir and turkish :)
The cross-guard is different than most I see on the web.
96 cm long.
I would appreciate your comments about the origin and age....

Thank you Battara. The blade is indeed mono-steel. There are some repairs at the scabbard. The family of the previous owner has obtained it early 1900.

Turkish yataghan - Translation request

Hi, I recently purchased this well used Turkish yataghan (so I am told).
Most of the goldwork has gone. I hope there is one side still readable.

Saka/Ngandu. I have no knowledge of copys of these knives. Even in Belgium you find them rarely. I would clean it but that's personal.

So when you visit Belgium there is also the musee africain de Namur, not as big as the Africamuseum in Brussels but surely worth a visit. There are lots of weapons on display....

In my opinion the guard is silver. It is cleaned with a soft cloth, warm water and soap.
It was found like this, no oxydation on the guard.
