A talibon? Unusual pommel

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,

I've stumbled on this one for a price that won't make me sorry. I'm intrigued by the pommel which does not resemble the three-petal floral shape that seems most common for the tailbon. The blade also seems to have an unusual bevel near the hilt.

Better photos once I've received the item. Right now this is the only one I have. Until then, any thoughts on what I have found?

Thank you in advance.

Best,

Dave A.

Hello Dave,

this one was on my watch list as well. I would say that this talibon was certainly in use and don't is one of this early tourist talibons. The handle isn't so unusual you maybe think, have a look to this thread in the old forum: http://www.vikingsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001242.html
You will see there some other with similar handles. Nice talibon!

Regards,
Detlef

Talibon variety

Thank you Sajen. That linked thread is a gem that truly illustrates the broad variety of styles that are talibon (or garab)!

Best,

Dave A.
