Dear all,

The last few months I have deeply searched the internet in trying to find more info concerning my keris (see first 5 pictures). I also e-mailed with people all over the world. After a while I almost gave up since I could'n't find simular kerisses. But my luck changed and I have finally found pictures of two kerisses with simular features :o . (see the last 3 pictures / many thanks to the kind persons providing them). Is anyone able to tell me more about my keris (age, where it was made, etc, etc). Some say it is a tourist piece but e.g. the goldwork is so beautifull and well done that I have a hard time believing it  Anyway thanks for any comments, good or bad. :)
Thanks,
Bart.

Bart,

My first impression was a moro kris from the Philipines. But I get more convinced this keris originates from Borneo.
I don't think it is a tourist piece. It certainly has some age, but how much I don't know.

These are more recently made Moro kris, post 1940s/1950s. Possibly for local datus.

Borneo - anything is possible since there are Moros there too.....

I agree with Jose, which is why i moved this thread. No, i wouldn't call these "tourist", though i wonder if some weren't made for high-end collectors instead of datus.
The workmanship is indeed beautiful, but i would imagine these care no more than 50 yrs. old at most.
