Iron and bronze falconet

I purchased the cannon from a gallery in California. The gallery owner described the cannon as follows: falconet cannon circa 1550 of European manufacture possibly Prussian or Flemish. Description: iron and bronze, the iron barrel is octagonal from the breech to the bronze trunions. Between the bronze trunions and the bronze muzzle the barrel is round. The overall length of the barrel is 42 inches; the diameter of the bore is 1.5 inches.

Hi Lee,

The combination of brass and iron, as well as the form of the barrel in general, reminds me of French, Spanish or Portuguese pieces of the mid to the 2nd half of the 16th c., rather than of German cannon.
The carriage and mounts are mere fantasy.
