Does anyone have any period photos of the Lobi ethnic group (Burkino Faso region being mainly where they live).

I am particularly interested in period costume/dress, shields and spears.

Any photos or tips to point me in the right direction are much appreciated. To start things off here's one, of a chap wearing cowry shells and outfitted as an elephant hunter apparently. Given that the group had a reputation as fierce warriors I was hoping to turn up a little more than Google has been providing.

Hi David,

I did indeed, including variations of French and English searches. ;)

However the number of photos that are pre 1950s seems very slim at least online. I was hoping that perhaps there's a book or article out there that will have photos and more in depth descriptions of the group's clothing and weaponry. Most of the material I managed to find so far is from the tribal art perspective and very much focused on statues and ceremonial objects.
