Tiger or a Dog on a pick

Got this thru a trade. Pick or an axe? Assembled for the tourist market, for battle or ceremonial use? Hollow iron tube. Length 20.25", Blade 6.5".

With the length of the tail I would say it might be a big cat of some type and with the spots possibly a leopard ? As for its use, with the hollow shaft maybe ceremonial use but that would only be a guess.:shrug: Sure does look good though.

the blade looks indian; reminds me of a kattar...

Hi,
Indian Zaghnal but I'm not familiar with the form. The blade looks useful as a weapon but the rest seems a bit overdone for actual combat. I'm sure the Indian experts will wade in soon.

Perhaps the animal and the wrap were added at a later date.

the piece is definatly a made up piece, but well done. I like the embelishments that they added. consider it folk art. I dought that in its final form it was anything but designed for tourist. But so what there is a place as collectables for this.

My gut feeling told me that it was a made up piece. The hollow tube, the welding of the composite parts. I still went for it. It goes thru heavy cardboard with ease....next victim a watermelon
