Description: DAGGER MAIN GAUCHE An early 17th century left handed dagger used to guard with when fencing in the 17th century. Extremely ornate hilt, decorated with knights on horses and grotesque masks. Turks heads remain on grip but binding is missing, cloths padding only grip. Blade of pronounced diamond section at the point and with six pierced grooves. Probably around circa 1600, blade may predate hilt. According to Stone’s it is Italian.
