I think this spear is Sudanese...it is about 5'10" overall. What do you think?

I saw one about 10' long recently - given that the bamboo shafts are flexible, how might they have been used? Wouldn't they bend on impact if used to thrust?

Looks Sudanese to me and a nice example. The shaft should have a little flex to it.

Very nice, looks well made/forged. The flex in the shaft acts as a shock absorber. If used on foot slashing type attacks are enhanced by the 'whippy' movement created at the 'head' end. Bamboo is surprisingly strong, but gets brittle as it ages.
