Is there a chance that the blade has 'hairpin folding', or is it (Probably) monosteel? Do you think it would be worthwhile to try etching it?

Tibetan 'down home' knife

Found this at an outdoor market for the price of a medium-fancy meal for two. Sheath covered with thin leather. Heavy blade; at first glance doesn't look like "hairpin folding". Full length 15 1/2...
