Thanks for the help, apparently these are Afghan officers from the 1950s, this is another example where the knot is clearly visible

Did officers also tie swordknots to suspension rings?

I saw this photo of an officer a while back, the photo is grainy but what I have seen he attached the swordknot to the suspension ring instead of the hilt? Have you seen this attachment method...
