Default Unknown Carrying Vessel

Any idea what this is? It's all brass with a lid top that slides up. Thanks

How big is this? Height? Width? Could we have a pic of the "sliding lid" please?

It's approximately 14x7". The lid slides up the carrying strap. I'll post more pics tomorrow.

There is a smaller version of this, currently for sale on a well known website. As the auction is still live, I can not under the Forum rules provide a link, but it is described as Ottoman Turkish Powder container.

I think this is not Ottoman, It should be from Maghreb countries, probably Morocco (or/and even Mauretania). I dont know the use, some say accessories of camel (trappinggs/equipment) ...

HI ,THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH GUN POWDER ,BUT A TOBACCO CONTAINER OTTOMON DESIGN HERE IS MINE FROM FROM WEST AFRICA, CAMEROON,I HAVE ONE WITH NICE BEEDS AND MONITOR LIZARD DESIGNS IN BRONZE
