Default Japanese sword question

Hi Guys,

A friend asked me some information's about a Japanese sword.
But it's far - far East - from my expertise.
Could you help him?
Is anyone good enough to translate the inscription?
Thank you

Kubur

Hola,Kubur,
After putting the words(盛常) on YahooJapan and searched it,I believe it is the name of the bladesmith, since that indeed is a common(?)name of Japaneses.
I am affraid of that is all information I have though.Have very little interest into Japanese weapons and not able to read Japanese.
Wish your friend get better help&information.

You will also need to turn the pictures upside down as kanji are read with the blde uppermost and the nakago(hilt) at the bottom

Hi
I joined nihonto forum for the explicit reason to find out more about 2 Japanese swords I have
I explained in my opening post I probably will not be back after I got information on my 2 swords.
I still found the forum members to be very welcoming and willing to share their knowledge with an interloper.
Not as friendly as here but nice guys and girls all the same.
Regards
Ken

NMB are a very serious bunch of people. They will tell you what you have, they can be less than kind, and you are best getting a second opinion. Some posters are very knowledgeable, and some are just opinionated
