Default Scandanavian short sword/cutlass

Just won the auction for this 'ANTIQUE SHORT SABRE SWORD'

It appears to be a Scandinavian or Prussian sword, possibly a naval hanger. Looks related to a similar Swedish infantry knife & an NCO sword I have with similar 'bolo' blades.

No info on dimensions, I note it has a deep fuller on the right side only.

Any info appreciated & thanks in advance. Will post more info on arrival.

I believe it's a Saxon m1879 artillery faschinenmesser. There should be a crowned A on the spine.

Cool, that's what it appears to be. With a quick Google, found this:

It notes that it is unusually large in its 25 in. blade, which is of a shape atypical for German blades. (Prussia used a similar profile for naval cutlasses, as did Sweden)

The next post there shows a shorter brass hilt version with a yataghan blade. I also have one of those, wasn't sure where it came from. Mine doesnt have a lion head pommel tho.

Thank you very much for solving two mysteries in one sentence.

faschinenmesser Sword arrived today. Blade is 24.5 in. sharp, appears to be a chisel edge, weight just under 900 grams. No discernable markings on blade/guard.
