Default Thirty Years War carbine

Hi Friends,
I just wanted to share my newest acquisition. It is a truly fantastic Dutch made rifled carbine made in the first decade of the Thirty Years War circa 1620's.
The carbine is about 30.5" long and the carved stock and engraved barrel are reminiscent of Dutch artistry of the early 17th century. But even with the embellishments the carbine is truly reminiscent of an officer grade military weapon probably used throughout the war.
I have been looking for an early Thirty Years carbine for some time and many period examples I found were later paddle butt carbines, so it was well worth the wait. Even better I was able to sell some of my own pieces and combine the proceeds with a trade to get a gun I could never otherwise afford.

I would appreciate any of your knowledgeable thoughts and insights!

Many Regards,
P

Wow, that is a nice looking wheellock. I haven't seen any carbines like it in my books or museum visits, but the lock looks about right for the claimed date up to 10-20 years later (no high expertise claimed). The embellishment on the outside is a little ornate compared with many preserved items of that period, when money tended to go on plain but good quality weapons for real business. I think looking at paintings of the period or a bit later you may turn up a similar styled firearm.
