Mongolian sword?

This is offered by the seller as a Mongolian sword. I havent examined it in real.Just the pics. Or could be Korean or Chinese as well? Any suggestions about origin and period?

I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. It screams "CHINA-A-A!!!!"

Just to soften a bit of what Ariel said (his cry of, "CHINA-A-A!!!!"), I would like to emphasize that many very good, well-forged weapons have come from China. And a few Chinese pieces rival the best pieces from any other nation in the world. Having said that, this particular sword is not one of them.

I agree completely. I suspect Ariel was referring to the mass-produced sword-like objects flooding eBay in recent years.

I also agree I love the true chinese swords, I wish I had the money to own more of them. It is a shame that the current crop of mass produced knock offs is giving chinese swords a bad name. Most of the swords many of us do collect were influenced by chinese smiths

Sorry for the telegraphic style: of course, my comment referred to contemporary junk manufactured in China and sold on e-bay as " Russian yatagan", " Tibetan Tulwar" and "Housecarl sword with cuprum vagina".

ive gotta get me one of them ..

yes true there is many good chinese made swords,,
but the,, things you see today are mostly ,, 10foot pole items , so to say,,
there is still several good sword makers in china,, it is a pitty that their work is not commonly available,,,

also ,, one mush however be careful when buying real chinese antiques,, in china making ripoffs and nockoffs of swords gos back 100 years , in the 1900 in hongkong this was alrady common practice, mostly making these bone katanas and such ,
