Default Very interesting kris

This most interesting kris just ended on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phillipines-...vip=true&rt=nc

The seller only posted one blurred picture but I ask for some close ups. I have hoped that it went high like this and will be able to obtain it for low money but you can't win every time! So I hope that someone from the forum is the happy winner.

Would like to know the age and origin of this nice kris. Here some pictures.

I find it interesting that the scabbard is Visayan like.

Yes, Jose, this is the most intersting by this kris! The scabbard is wrapped with leather in old manner from 19th century when I see it correct.

Another similar kris hilt pic from the old forum.

Seems like this is a specific style (the carvings) seeing as there are several examples.

Yes, indeed very similar. Is it an old Sulu style? What i also never have seen before is the way how the hilt is attached to the blade ( by the one I have posted).

OOEEH ! Had I seen the pictures below the one posted on ebay (first one only(right?)) than would have bid a bit more than I have! Nice one! It looks quite Malay style to me, but am no expert on these. Someone got a bargain for $370(?) on it.
Thanks for posting those additional pics of it Sajen! Too bad you didnt win it!

Yes, only the first picture was posted, the other ones I received on request. I have seen that the sheath was wrapped in Visayan style so i was curious to see better pics from it. Don't think it's Malay but Sulu.
Agree with you that the happy winner get a bargain also when the tip of the blade is bent. And yes, I am sad that I haven't had more money for the moment to bid higher.
