Default MANDAU SCABBARD WITH RARE BRASS PLATE

AN NICE MANDAU with very rare brass plate on it

Does any one see this before ???

Does the plate show any typical Dayak motifs?

Hi Kai and Michael here some more pics .

I think the Brass plate s maybe parts off chinese coins I don t now .
The handle also rare style .

The amulet is an piece of an bear jaw .

Too large for coins AFAIK. Probably some other gadget which found its way into Dayak hands?

If there is a hole in the center of the brass plate it could maybe be a flattened opium pipe fitting?

Hi Ben. Nice mandau. Would it be possible to see a clear close-up of the coin at the base of the hilt. This is only the second time i have seen this (though admittedly my experience is limited), the other one is mine discussed in this thread:

Hi David the coin on the handle mostly Dutch dime
this is not rare and can be seen a lot mostly it disapear and we only see the place where the coin was

the one in the forum looks also Like an dutch dime one side Dutch otherside Indonesian or arabic
Also only Dutch both side s and under the Handle also can be found an coin from Sarawak Radja James Brooke
The Only White Radja in History .

yes that is right I did mean the Brooke s are the only ones .

But mostly the coin from J.Brooke we find on the Jimpul .

Here is an Dutch coin Nederlands-Indie 2 and a half cents other side different language.
same as 10 cents . so I can say it is an dutch coin on the mandau of yours .
I have missed that post otherwise you would have sooner reaction on it sorry.

I might found out where the mandau is from .
The carving on the handle can be found with the Bussang people .

Hi Kai they live above mahakam between Kenya and Modang in the 1980 that can be found in Hornbill and Dragon.
