Default Philippines 1st Republic dagger: Anybody from here scoop this dagger up?

Kinda furious about this one. The owner posted this on eBay a few months back and listed it as a Spanish/French influenced dagger, believing it was from Louisiana because of the design. He purchased this item from an auction with no background info. From the markings it is obviously from Aguinaldos 1st Republic of the Philippines. A high ranking officer or generals dagger. I was all ready to pounce on this one...and then the seller ended the auction early. I contacted the owner and even spoke with him over the phone. Turns out he ended up selling the dagger outside of eBay. argh... So...did any one of you grab this piece?
pics of this pretty awesome piece.

ok, guilty! just kidding. she's beautiful!

hope the ebay seller will tell you how to get in touch with the buyer. or maybe you can ask the ebay seller to act as agent for you, so in the end you still get that dagger. go for it, dimasalang!

I wish. He told me the selling price, and it was ridiculous. It was the price I was willing to pay times 5.

Ahhhhh wells...

The dagger is sold already and we are free to discuss it.
Out of sheer curiosity, what was the selling price?
I mentioned earlier that Philippine weapons seem to be increasing in value exponentially, and just want to gauge the feeling. I am not collecting them and will not be a competitor.
If you feel uncomfortable, you may PM me.
I'd appreciate your satisfaction of my curiosity.
Thanks.

Ok I now have this!

It showed up here in Louisville, KY last month. I cleaned it up and here are the pictures.

Dimasalang, I hope you are at least a little happy - a pinoy has it now and has posted it here for research......

Here are the pictures of the front, the blade, the back, the top, and the quillions. All of this is engraved silver. The top nut is screwed onto the tang that goes through the hilt. Also the hilt is albino carabao horn with silver nails.

Here are some other pictures of the triangle with sun and sun face, and stars. The other picture is an engraved 1st Republic flag below the triangle. At the bottom tip of the scabbard is a pierced silver chape: front top is a flower and the back top is a star.

If anyone knows the significance of these on the chape, please let me know.

I agree with you Dimasalang, it is perhaps a general grade dagger with all of that floral engraving in curls and circles.
