Default Turkish Shamshir from the North African Coast

The sword is comming from Tripolis (Libya), bought in Old Town cca ten years ago in 2001. Remainder of Turkish presence during the past centuries, here. It was restored, metal bend on the grip is still sticking out. The blade was very rusty, so the sword was given for restauration to "recommended professional" - who, leather head, damaged it finally (he did not fix or cover the gilding on the blade and during the treatment in Chelaton II bath half of the gilding fell out). Unfortunatelly, I cannot read Arabic except of numerals, but one of my friends translated the inscription before it was damaged. It was extract from the old legend about Seven Sleepers, including their names.

I forgot the pictures, here they are.
BTW, it was told me (allegedly based on the style of writing ??), the craftsman making the gilding/inscription was iliterate, very probably Berber.
Regards, Martin

Very nice sword. If you can get better close ups of the writings I am sure someone would be able to translate it for you. Nice find
