Default My last entry for 2010 - "Flissa dagger"

Hi Gentlemen

not very exceptional, just a good and honest dagger
origin; Kabylia - Algeria (North-Africa)
ethnic; Berber people
age; 19th century
overall length; 400mm (15,75")
single edged blade; 278mm (10,82")

chiseled and inlaid with brass decoration on both sides,
chisel decorated brass hilt with distinctive animals head pommel,
it is complete with it's original zig-zag carved wooden scabbard with metalic bands,
the zig-zag carving represents the snake and the triangles on the blade represent the fibula in Berber iconography

à +
