Default northern luzon blade

Hello friends,

This is our first luzon (lowlands) blade. The previous owner, who hails from Cagayan province, made mention that this was a ww2 piece used by his lolo/grandpa during the ww2.

Some colleagues put this generally as a Pangasinan blade. But the specific name of the blade is quite unfamiliar. Another friend told us that this was a Pangasinan 'bulong palay'- however, references of a 'bulong palay' on the net gives me the impression that this old warrior is not bulong palay.

What do you call the design(pommel) on this piece?

Any info on what this old warrior's name is? Appreciate it.

Kind regards and advanced Merry Christmas to all!

All the best,

Yves
