Default 19 c Pata, recently sold on eBay...comments please?

Hi all,
followed this Pata on eBay....unfortunately the bidding got a little 'rich'...but I had reservations about its age. The guard seems to be 'artificially antiqued'.....I am not saying it definately is....but that is my impression from the images. The blade 'mounting plates' also look to be weak....especially with the length of blade.

I do like these.. ..they almost verge in the 'fantasy' category.

Was this a 'good' Pata or was I right to be suspicious

Hi David,

The flanges holding the blade look like they were crudely repaired at some point, and it's odd that they do not align with the blade. The gauntlet looks a bit like a khukri I once posted, that had been aged and dunked into bronze of some sort. The monster head i've seen on a number of patas, so I don't think that's unusual. There is another one I'm watching on the bay, perhaps the bidding will not get as rich
