Default Batangas bolo!

New addition to the collection. Hoping to get some input on this. Carabao hilt, through-tang (peened over), brass ferrule. Leather sheath with attached belt. Blade has angled tip but not sharply angled like a tabak or “katana”.

Based on other threads (http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...t=Finger+notch for example) I believe the origin is Luzon, Batangas. Shows some characteristics of Ilokano work? Age probably post-1945? Thanks!

Dimensions: 56 cm overall length, 42 cm by 4+ cm blade.

Hullo! This is a Laguna-made piece. I have 2 pieces with the same maker's mark and hilt+scabbard, WW2 era. The blade profile is called "sinanbartolome."

Default Well Done

Wildwolberine,

Very well made sword (I especially like the pommel cap) and sheath, all in very good condition with good age to it. You can't ask for more.

Sincerely,
RobT

Thank you! I searched the forums and found your examples. One of my favorites!

Thanks, I agree! I cleaned it up a little, polished the brass, and treated the horn. Probably won’t touch the scabbard as it’s in great shape for it’s age
