Default Bolo Machete?

This looks like a late 19th century bolo to me. There is something about the handle treatment that looks familiar. The OAL is 16 inches, and I guess its origins may be anywhere along the Spanish colonies. Can anyone help me to narrow the point of origins down?

The handle construction would point in that direction .

Here is another knife that may fall into the same category. It is also a heavy knife with horn handles, and looks to date from the same period. Decorations on this one includes 11 round inserts in the blade, an "eye" symbol on either side of the bolster, and copper stripes along the top of the handle.
