Without a methuk it can't be a tombak, technically speaking.

I can't conclusively place its origin to any of the islands, sorry.

Regards,
Kai

Eric,

I think it is a real weapon. Not for tourists. Maybe not completely formal mounted as a tombak. Still i would call this a tombak.

I would agree with Kai that this is not a tombak (no methuk), but it does seem to be a true weapon, not a tourist item.

In the book "De inlandsche kunstnijverheid in Nederlandsch Indië" by J.E. Jaspers and Mas Pirngadie pictures are shown of Javanese spears and tombaks without methuk. Apparently a methuk wasn't a necesary item.

This weapon that is shown is present in this book and is described as a javanese spear or pike (javaanse piek).
