Default Question on cabasset

Hello,

Regarding cabassets and morions, what do we know about stem-shaped pears? Is it the will of the blacksmith in the style of the time, or really stemming from the manufacturing process? (or both).

Because some cabassets do not have one. Or maybe it is specific to certain countries? It would be interesting to see the manufacturing process in pictures, are there perhaps engravings of the time?
