Help ID the little knife I bought several years ago.
Folks I need help in Id'ing the little knife, it appears to be from the middle east, it is 8" long, brass or bronze metal with a nickel or nickel silver plating, it has a fish carved on both sides of the handle, some type of script on one side of the sheath and a flight of birds on the other, there is some decoration on the upper blade on both sides, the blade is not sharp and does not appear to have ever been cutting sharp. There is wear with the brass color showing through, None of it will not hold a magnet, except for the two rings on the side that holds the ribbon, the ribbon is hand stiched. Any help will be much appreciated..
Thanks...Burt... Last edited by Burt; 16th February 2012 at 10:13 PM. |

My best guess, it is a souvenir letter-opener from the Middle East.

to be from Middle-East ... should be, but
I never saw a dagger, or letter opener with that look about the "fish", in Libya, many bedouin silver bracelets have that pattern but in 3 years residence in this country, I never saw, one single dagger, or one sword otherwise ... guns, as well as pistols, revolver ... plenty à + Dom |
