Default Large Gunong

A forum member had this and I couldn't pass it up. 14 3/4" (375mm) overall length. Laminated blade and lovely wood. Nice fittings with a silver wash or overlay, I think. Thanks Rick!

Good get Steve. I love the wood of the hilt and the extra carved finger rest on the grip that you don't typically see on these.

I'm very happy to see it going to a good home! Nice etch! The laminations turned out nicely.

Hello Steve, Most of these larger gunongs that I have seen have had wavy blades with pointy luks, scabbards covered in plated or painted metal and to me are not very appealing in their appearance. On the other hand your latest example has a very nice well formed blade, beautiful wood used for the hilt, well done intricate fittings and a very nice scabbard. My congratulations on a wonderful new addition to your ever growing collection.

Best,
Robert

BTW - looking at this, it appears to be from Mindanao.
