Default Help: Stamped makers mark small crown over C

Looking at a strange rapier variant today with a small stamped makers mark near the hilt. oval with a crown (I think) over C.
Under this next to the hilt a word incised in 'script' that is unreadable due to patina.
Prominant feature of the rapier was no finger loops, twisted wire bound grip and two symetrical oval guards (one each side) with pierced plates in them.
Any of this sound familiar?
Not a long sword, standard smallsword length.
