WELCOME . WHAT A WAY TO START OUT WITH TWO PAKAYUN SWORDS FROM THE MURUT TRIBE IN SABAH NORTH MALAYSIAN BORNEO. THERE ARE SEVERAL GOOD DISCUSSIONS ON THEM IN THE OLDER FORUM ARCHIVES AND PERHAPS IN THE PRESENT POSTS. YOU CAN ACCESS THEM BY CLICKING ON THE ARCHIVE AND THEN CLICK SEARCH AND TYPE IN PAKAYUN AND CLICK.
THE SEARCH FUNCTION ON THIS FORUM IS A EXCELLENT REFRENCE SOURCE FOR ALL SORTS OF ITEMS. CONGRADULATIONS ON 2 RARE SWORDS

i have look at discussions and archives on this site and on web, now that i kwow the name of my weapons.
i have found only few articles about them, i have always not idea how old they are, if they are war weapons..... if you have some explanations on them i will be happy.
another question is : must i clean them, and if yes, how?

best regards

Dear L'Audois,

Pakayun are rare. That is why you don't see much info on them , even on this forum. Ben / Dajak has a nice collection of them, and probably most threads you found concern his collection.
If you don't know how to clean them , in this specific case, i would say. Don't clean them. They don't appear to be in a very bad state.
So, just apply some oil to the blades, some bees wax / antique wax to the wooden scabbard and handles and let them be as they are.

These are excellent examples and will get only scarcer.

Saluts,

Willem
