It arrived!
The first word that comes to mind is "wow". The second - monumental. The third ... incomplete. It is an absolutely great book, but it is obvious that it only covers parts of the Balkans, mostly the South (which was the original idea) and the West. The Eastern Balkans with all their weapon production centers are barely mentioned. Also, with a few exceptions, only weapons up to the mid 19th century are examined.

I am puzzled as to why that is - maybe the author thought that the later periods and the other regions of the Balkans are already well covered in other works. Or maybe the scope of the work would have been so large, that it would have been impossible to publish in a single volume - it is a huge book as it is.

Anyway, an amazing book and a perfect Christmas gift.

I raised Hell at the post office and all the time my Wife had picked it up and neglected to tell me !

A great thing though; I have identified my flintlock pistol .
It has virtually the same barrel as fig. 387 only shorter !!

This book has made huge debate among Greek collectors. There are a lot of pieces known before as made in Epirus that Elgood says that they were made in Montenegro and other places.
I had no time to read the book, I have just look the photos and not so carefully so I have not an opinion for my own yet. But I know few collectors that they are very very angry
