Default Yemen visit

There is a pretty good chance I will visit Yemen on business in the near future. Are the souks in Sana'a worth visiting? Are there antique blades still available or has everything worth buying long disappeared leaving only tourist stuff. has anyone been there? Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I think you will find what you are after in the souq in Sana'a. However there is an awful lot of tourist/recent items so you'll need to be careful in what you buy and if its really good it won't be cheap. Get to know one or two dealers and they will help you.
The next and real problem is getting the good items out of Yemen and not having them confiscated at the airport as all luggage is scanned at the airport entrance. Good luck there. Diplomatic luggage helps.

Steve-thanks for the information. I think I will definitely take a look if the opportunity arises.
