Default Dresden Armoury

Last week I visited the Dresden Armoury again and could make some pictures. I hope that you like them and that they give you the idea to take a trip to this wonderful location.

Thank you corrado for those photographs!
I always wanted to visit this museum. Maybe out of coincidence, did you see Karabela-hilted weapons there and took some pictues of them too?
Below i post such a weapon if you arent familiar with that.

Thanks, Corrado, for taking the time to post this magnificent thread! you just don't see such displays here in the states, with perhaps the Frazier arms Museum (KY) and the Cleveland Museum of Art rare exceptions.

Thank you for sharing these amazing photos. What an incredible selection of swords.

What surprises me is the gaudy decoration on some of these pieces, extreme to the point that they almost resemble the exaggerated swords from popular fiction!

Very intersting is the existance of a brass copy of one of the swords shown in the exhibition that I ahve since a very long time in my private collection.

Yes of course! Apart of the western armoury there is famous Tuskisch Zimmer there with plenty of weapons from Ottomans but for my eye Poland and Hungary also. Eventually two of Polish kings were from Dresden and both admire Polish costume (so the arms also).
