This looks Indonesian to me, The hilt has some strong similarities in my mind to a hulu cangge gliwang. I will look in von Zonnevelds book tonight and see what I can find

Hello Carlos,

The hilt is a known style that I can't remember - Michael to the rescue! I'm less certain regarding the ferrule though.

I'd love to hear what Ben can say about this piece, too.

The blade looks really weird - any close-ups? I'm weary that this might be a composite piece...

My first reaction is that it looks like a composite of a Sumatran blade (Gayo?) with a mandau scabbard.
But I have seen original combinations of Malay swords in mandau scabbards in f.i. the Leiden picture archive. However usually the scabbards aren't that clearly "mandau style" then and also the floral carvings on the hilt looks a bit odd?
Some more close ups of the scabbard and blade would be useful.
And a good close up of the carvings and the empty coin holes(?).
