Thoughts on a dagger?

Hi All --

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is:

My initial thoughts were to its similarity to a kindjal, but the hammered copper and the belt makes me think African.

Any observations would be very appreciated!

This appears to be a small Cossack kinzhal (kinjal).

To me it looks like something from Turkey or maybe Syria.

Syria gets my vote. Seems a bit crudely made to me probably mid 20th century?
