Hello Sandeep,

I really do not understand what you mean exactly by 'damascening', but I know that in Damascus, koftegari work, in gold and silver, is beautifully and traditionally produced, as well as pattern welded blades (few smiths produce those though).

S.Al-Anizi is right. There are a few Damascening artists in Damascus. However, in my humble opinion, their quality seems to be inferior to what Sandeep shows. I do not think there is a single artist in Syria who can produce a whole gold-damascened hilt to match Sandeep's work.
I will provide some photos later on.

Hello,

How about the gold work being carried out on Indonesian/Malay keris? I'm not sure how that process is called - perhaps not really koftgari. Sandeep, have a look at the keris offered by Mans on the Swap Forum...he has some gold "damascened" examples.
