Default INDO/PERSIAN DAGGER??

A friend of mine has asked me to figure this one out. It is not within my field of interest and, as far as I can tell, it may be from North India, Pakistan, Afghanistan??? Any ideas??? Thanks, RON

First it looks like a pesh kabz with horn hilt and brass inlay.

Second, I see a date in Arabic, though I don't read Arabic.

Hi,

Look at this link
http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=11671
Some of them are recent, beginning of 20th c.
Yours is old, the date is 1238 or 1822.

A date means absolutely nothing, if someone adds the date 1822 into a newly made dagger does this make it old? I see no signs of age, in my opinion this is newly made.

I agree! It's just because I have one similar and it's an old one, the blade is absolutly amazing.
