Default Another Interesting SEA knife for ID 'Tumbok Lada'

Another one that I'm not familiar with.
The original collectors notes called it a 'Tumbok Lada'.
Not a blade type I've seen before, have a good look, it's quite strange.

Any thoughts? Age?

Possibly in this family ?

The hilt is so small that it must be grasped in the 'edge up' grip.

IIRC, mate either TVV or VVV had an example similar to mine and he had a name for it .

Are you Guys out there ?

Judging from post #20 in that thread I'll guess Karih as the designation .

Interesting piece. The blade looks like it could be a salvaged sword blade. Not something in the standard catalog but would most likely qualify as a badik. The silverwork suggests Sumatra or perhaps Riau.

Interesting nice little dagger. Unusual that it was used two different wood for the sheat. I would vote for Sumatra as well. When you boring it one day I would be happy to give it a new home!

Regards,

Detlef
