Default Buku??

Hello members,

I have got this sword recently but I am unsure what it is and more I am unsure about the age and quality. My guess is that it is a buku and not so old, see the aluminium bands at the wooden handle. It is 67,5 cm long, the handle is 14,5 cm and the "tang" until the bend is 7,4 cm. The blade is 8 mm thick at the handle. Like usual are all comments and suggestions are very appreciated.

Regards,

Detlef

Hi Detlef.

Look at this thread http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...highlight=buku

That tells you if you have a parang latok or a buko. But it is one of these. Maybe not very old, but it has some age and is a fine example to have in your collection.

Hi Henk,

yes, I know this thread. Like this description it is a buku since the angel is more than 5 cm. The handle have a good patination and I am unsure if the aluminium bands maybe of newer date? The blade is very rusty and I just start to clean it. Is it maybe a good idea to replace the bands with silver?

Regards,

Detlef
