Talking Yet Another Philippine Sword

Hi,
Here is yet another Philippine sword from my collection. Hilt is carved horn with brass guard, ferrell and butt plate. The tang goes through the hilt and butt plate and is peened over. The leather sheath is still in good condition and complete with original frog. As always comments are more than welcome.

Blade Length 21-1/2"
Blade at widest 1-1/4"
Blade at thickest 5/16"
Hilt 5-5/8"

pinuti-style phillipino swords are cool. my somewhat less impressive 'villager' 'pinuti':

30.5in. LOA in scabbard, 21in. diff. hardened distal tapered forged carbon steel blade - 5mm thick at the grip x 1.125in. wide, (1 5/8 at it's widest near the back of the false edge). bevel on one side only, other is flat. 7in. plain wood grip, rattan bindings on scabbard & rattan bolster, no guard. blade stamped ?aNR (first letter faint & indistinct)

we do not get many of the phillipino sharp pointy things over here, darn it. they tend to be my favourites. get lots of more traditional british empire items to make up for it tho.

Hi kronckew,
I too love Filipino sharp pointy things! The one above is beveled on both sides of the blade with a 11" false edge. I really like the one you have too. If you get tired of it feel free to send it over as I will give it a good home. Here are just a few more of mine. If there are any you want a better look at just tell me which one and I will post close-ups of it.

Lew,
This is my work room what my wife loving calls my junk room. I guess there is no accounting for taste. I hang my coat in the closet.

Jose,
Thank you. Here are a few more items.

Lew,
Can I come over to your house to play? The only problem is now I want to know what kind of goodies are hiding in the cabinet

Lew

Can you give me your address and also let me know when no one will be home? I think those babies will fit nicely in my car.

three (or is it 4 now).

i'll put on a postman's uniform, carry a box that looks like it has a sharp pointy thing in it that did not have all the proper homeland security import forms attached and ring his doorbell while y'all go 'round back and fill up arny's car.
i'm not greedy, three or four, no, 5 or 6 of those as my share, moro kris, barong, a talibon, salawar, yataghan (if there is one in there) and a couple of others will do me. mebbe one or two more just to be sure. hmmm, gonna need a lot of forms.

be sure not to let him read this.
