Beautiful carving! I love Rencong, I only have two in my collection. Any chance of more photos of the scabbard and blade?

A BEAUTIFUL SET WITH 3 VERY WELL CARVED VARIATIONS. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE CARVING ON YOUR NEWEST ONE REMINDS ME OF CARVING DONE ON SOME SUMATRAN SWORD HANDLES. THE DESIGN ON THE BACK OF THE HANDLE IN YOUR SECOND PICTURE LOOKS A LITTLE LIKE A STYLIZED HUMAN SKULL, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Hello Barry,

I don't think it is a skull but more a floral motif. Lik on the ivory hilts I posted some time ago.

Best regards,
Willem

Here are 2 pages from Hands of time / Crafts of Aceh showing several motifs used in textile / silk weavings from Aceh.

Thanks Detlef,
I am not unhappy myself with the collection.
Today I have made some additional pictures of both my horn and ivory examples.
Most fortunately I was also able to get hold of the example Maurice showed.

Best regards,
Willem

A great display like that Willem.

They almost don't look like they are pretty rare finds all together....
