Default little sword... Ottoman or Maghrib?

My friend sent me thoose photos, asking what he's got. Markings and everything else is somehow familiar, but I really do not recall what exactly it is.

Finnaly I've found out where I saw thoose markings. There is a verry similar marking on shashka blade in Tirris book under the chapter Caucasus.

Is that little sword a shaska type?

As Valjhun said, the marks on the blade seem to be of caucasian make. The blade also seems to be quite old, probably older than the hilt, Im guessing you have one of these swords used by the bedouins of sinai and the negev.

Actually these are very popular and common "sickles" stamps on european blades, originate probably in Genoa, Italy, and vastly sham in other countries, seen on Italian, German and Polish weapons in 1st half of the 17th century. First ones appeared at the end of the 16th century, and were in use probably until 18th century. Those on blade we can see here seems to be 17th century, maybe even original, thought it's very hard to state it for sure. There were great variety of these stamps: with dots (like yours), with "crest", smooth, in pairs, in rows, it two or even stamped along the blade.
This blade seems to be European origin, 17th century, Italy or Germany.
Regards!
