Default Turkish (?) hancer for translation & comments

Another type of hancer I have in my collection, that I would like to learn more about.

It is quite large (55.5 cm / 21.9") and has a possibly wootz blade (it needs cleaning and etching to be sure).

All fittings are silver and the scabbard (which I believe is the original) is marked with a Turgha, which make me believe it is of Turkish manufacture.

Maybe we can learn more about the blade if Kwiatek will be able to translate the writing.

I've always liked this form of Ottoman jambiya, with all of the repousse silver, and often with wootz blade.

I have another one of these monsters (over 45cm). Slightly different with a slender hilt covered with koftgari.

I think this dagger is closest to the walrus one that you posted previously.

Very Nice Indeed! - I'd bet my last dollar that it's wootz. It has the look...

Same hilt, different blade, from an Ottoman court dagger (not mine unfortunately)

Sorry for delay, the inscriptions don't read properly. It's possible to give suggestions for certain words, such as عز ('Glory') and اقبال ('Fortune'), but on the whole these words belong to an earlier repertoire of inscriptions and I doubt that's what they are. In one place it looks like تبارك الله ('blessed is God'). I doubt very much the person making/copying these inscriptions knew what the words meant

Very interesting!

So it appears the script was added mainly for its decorative value.

Thank you very much!
