Default Kard questions

Hi, Any information on this one will be appreciated. The hilt has a repair where it sheared off, the blade and hilt appear to be all one piece. The scales had to have been removed for the repair. There doesn't appear to have ever had the usual band strap around the hilt. The scales appear original and smaller than most Kards. I've seen several scales mounted this way on kards and karuds recently. Is this original to an area or era or just a poor repair?

Thanks,
Steve

Steel fitting on the scabbard reminds me of Afghanistan. Is the unusual contour of the blade inherent or just a result of many sharpenings? The upper part, close to the tip, also looks re-formed a bit.
It is my impression that kards are not inherently fighting knives, but rather utility implements.

Default Re Kards

Ariel, I agree, kards, were a side arm if needed but mainly utility usage. This one has had a lot of sharpening and some reshaping. I amazed at the coarse stones they must have used to sharpen. I've seen a few that had a normal drop point.

Steve, I think it is original. Here is the similarly hilted kard:
