Default Help identify shamshir

This sword has been in the family for some time. It's allegedly Ottomanic shamshir (šamšir), from Damascus. Does anyone have any ideas about it?

Thanks!

Hi Dino,

Your sword is Ottoman, no doubt about it. I would date it to the 19th century. Whether it is from Damascus is hard for me to say, but other members who know more about Damascus swords anf fittings may be able to help you to determine this.

Best regards,

Teodor

Agree with Teodor. Damascus attribution is not clearly evident.
Dino, this is a good authentic Ottoman shamshir!
