Well worth doing. This type of restoration does no harm to the item. In fact it may well have been done before in the past. The original owners would not hesitate to repair the rattan if it got damaged in use. Just handle it as often as you can and a few years on who would really know that you did it.

Hi Flavio, great job on the rattan wrap! What a difference rattan makes...the sword looks naked with out it!

Where did you get the rattan strips?
