Default South African Horn ?

While commenting on a horn Thread recently posted by Member RobT, I was reminded of an unusual horn I bought a few years ago, but had forgotton about. So I dug it out of all my ruble LOL and Post it here to ask if anyone has an idea of it's origin. The seller thought it might be South African. But really had no idea. Nor do I.
It's a large size horn, about 14" long. It has some minor decoration on one side. And the arch of the horn chants to the left, as if for a left hand shooter if the spout were pointing upwards. But there is no evidence of a carrying ring/attachment at the base of the horn. So the carving at the tip looks like it was made for a cord attachment and carried in a vertical position. Hmmmm.
Makes me wonder if it was made to carry water versus powder
There is a seperate plug in the base that appears to be made of the same material (horn), and held in place with nails.
Any thoughts about this would be appreciated. I have no clue. Thanks.

Rick
